Pastor Caleb Williams

Rev. Caleb Williams has been our pastor since 2021. He is passionate about building community, leading worship, and playing with kids! He grew up in southwest Michigan, and moved to Traverse City to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy. He got his bachelor’s in Music Education from Western Michigan University and his Master of Divinity and Master of Sacred Music degrees from Boston University. He was commissioned as a United Methodist Deacon in 2016 and ordained in 2019. After over 15 years in music ministry, God had another plan, and the leaders of Milwood asked him to be our pastor. While he loves cooking, video games, and whatever his latest hyperfocus project is, he loves being a husband and dad even more. ​

Dottie Kovacs
Office Manager 

​Dottie’s earliest memories of church were formed at one just like Milwood United Methodist where her parents met in choir and were later married. At eight years old, she prayed to receive Christ as her Savior at a CEF 5-Day Club and continued in her faith as a teen, being baptized in the lake at Warner Camp. Today, she is active in Gracespring Bible Church where she raised her own two children over the past 25 years. She lives with her family & two cats in the Milwood neighborhood and they enjoy “glamping,” creative projects, game nights, and the arts.  She studied Family Studies through Spring Arbor University, and continues to study Spanish through Duolingo. She and her husband were blessed with their first grandchild in 2024.

Diana Galloway
Director of Children's Ministries

Diana began working with children as a 17-year-old college freshman, serving as the children’s choir director at Alma United Methodist Church in the fall of 2000. She is passionate about helping children discover that church is a place where they are loved, welcomed, and truly belong. After 11 years in New Mexico, Diana is happy to be back home in Michigan with her husband, Sean, their daughters, and two crazy dogs she refuses to claim. She enjoys coffee, books, grown-up coloring with far too many gel pens for any one person to reasonably own, and being anywhere near a beach—or really any moving body of water.

Carl Doubleday
​Organist & Fine Arts Director

Carl became our organist in the fall of 1975. He earned two music degrees at Western Michigan University and, while a student, he was the accompanist for the Wesley Foundation Choir on campus. This included serving as the early service organist at First United Methodist Kalamazoo where the Wesley Choir sang each Sunday. After his degree work, he remained at WMU where he established what is now the Carl W. Doubleday Concerts Office in the Irving S. Gilmore School of Music. He retired in 2010 after 42 years as Director of Concerts. This career enabled him to help establish The Milwood Series of concerts at our church which will present its 40th season in 2027.

Darlene Sang
Chancel Choir & JuBELLation Handbell Director

​Darlene has attended Milwood church for 22 years. She has directed the handbell choir for 21 years and the chancel choir for 7 years. She loves praising the Lord through music. Darlene taught music for 34 years and is retired from Portage Public Schools. She is a former director of the Kalamazoo Children’s Chorus where she directed for 25 years. Darlene and her husband Fred live in Paw Paw where they spend much of their time taking care of their many beautiful gardens. Along with gardening Darlene also loves to puzzle and read. 

John Ryan
Treasurer

John has worked in accounting for over a decade, currently full time for a local golf course, as well as for two churches in Milwood, including Converge Community where he regularly attends with his wife Michelle. John attended Hope College for his accounting degree, as well as the University of Michigan for his Masters. John is originally from Vicksburg, and now lives in Portage with Michelle and their two dogs, Annie and Hazel. In his free time, John loves all things sports, especially golf. John and Michelle enjoy traveling and playing games with friends.

Andrew Kovacs
Custodian

Andrew grew up in the Milwood neighborhood and even began his formal education here long ago at pre-school! He may be the employee you see the least, but he's no stranger to Milwood, serving occasionally in the tech booth and previously at the food pantry.
He earned his certification for HVAC at KVCC in 2025 as an avenue to become more familiar with architectural design. He enjoys tennis, 3D printing, and online gaming with his friends in his spare time. He also has an appreciation for music and a soft spot for any cat he encounters.
