Purpose of the Fund
The Visser Family Emerging Ministry Fund exists to launch new ministry projects that help create bridges between the church and the community.
History of the Fund
Upon Mel Visser’s death in 2021, Mel left a bequest for Milwood United Methodist Church. A team from the church met with the Visser family to determine how to faithfully employ this gift. Through ongoing conversation, the team and family decided to pay off the outstanding mortgage debt and to use the balance of the gift to support emerging ministries that bridge the community and congregation.
